Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Punjab Kings IPL 2024 :
Virat Kohli's 49-ball 77 put Royal Challengers Bangalore on the brink of victory against Punjab Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium today, while Dinesh Karthik and Mohipal Lomor's four-sixes in the last two overs helped Bangalore win by 4 wickets.
Faf du Plessis got off to a poor start against Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener last Friday. Mustafizur Rahman single-handedly dismantled RCB's batting order by picking up crucial wickets of skipper du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green. However, Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat's 95-run partnership in the lower-order was one positive for RCB.
Punjab Kings scored just 176/6 on the scoreboard at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday due to some excellent death bowling performance from Bengaluru and a poor performance from the Punjab batsmen.
Kohli scored 77 and Dinesh Karthik stood till the end and scored 28 to give RCB victory in their first home match. Today Kohli became the first Indian to score 100+ 50 in T20Is.
Kasigo Rabada, Harpreet Brar took two wickets each and Harshal Patel and Sam Curran took one each for Punjab.
Batting first, Punjab Kings collected 176/6 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Among the RCB bowlers, Glenn Maxwell and Yash Dayal bowled well to prevent the Punjab Kings batsmen from scoring big runs. But strong finishes of Shikhar Dhawan's 45 and Shashank's 8-ball 21 towards the end helped Punjab post 176 runs.
