T20 WORLD CUP 2022: BCCI announced the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup on Monday. Indian cricket circles thought that, pacer Muhammad Shami would get a chance in the national T20 team after a long time. However, to everyone's surprise, Shamir did not get a place in the 15-member team. He is kept as standby.

Disappointment Shami's fans:

There is a strong discussion about this in the cricket circle. There is no reason why he is not in the team, but the selectors have not yet given any answer. After the disappointing performance of the Indian bowlers in the Asia Cup, it was thought that Shami will get a place in the World Cup team. But that did not happen. Meanwhile, after getting fit,Bumrah and Harshal returned to the team.

There was a long discussion among the selectors about who will be kept between Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin in the selection meeting on Monday. Then the selectors put Ashwin in the main team on the advice of coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma. Incidentally, the last time Shami played a T20 match in the country's jersey was on the T20 World Cup stage last year.

Thought of rahul and rohit on shami's inclusion in squad:

According to a source, the selectors could not decide whether to keep Shami or Ashwin in the main team in the team selection meeting. Then Dravid and Rohit said that they want Ashwin in the main team. Having this experienced spinner will add variety to the team. Ashwin can bat as well. Ashwin has good success against left-handed batsmen. After taking the coach-captain's opinion, Ashwin was kept in the team.

Although not in the main squad for the World Cup, Shami has been included in the limited-overs series against Australia and South Africa at home. It is believed that Shami has been included in the team for these two series so that Bumrah and Harshal Patel are not under too much pressure before the World Cup.

Mohammed Azhar Uddin comments on Shami's absence in squad:

Muhammad Azharuddin, one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket history, said that he was surprised by seeing the 15-member team. According to him, Shreyas Iyer and Muhammad Shami should have been in the 15 man squad for the World Cup.

Former India captain Azharuddin said in a tweet on Tuesday. He wrote, I was surprised to see the original team of 15 for the World Cup. In my opinion, Shreyas Iyer should have been given a chance to replace Harshal Patel with Shami and Deepak Huda. At the same time, Azhar feels that the balance is not right in this Indian team. Incidentally, along with Shami, Shreyas, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar have also been kept as standbys.

Shami bowled well in the last IPL. Gujarat played a vital role in making the Titans champions. Agreeing with Azhar about not keeping him in the team, another former Indian star Krishnamachari Srikanth said that if he had been the chairman, he would have kept Shami in place of Harshal Patel in the team.

Former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal raised the same question:

In a response, Madan Lal said, "Shami is a big match bowler. Could have played an important role on Australian soil. I have no idea why he was not included in the 15 team. Shami is a bowler who has the ability to take wickets in the first three overs.' Meanwhile, Madan Lal, a member of the 1980 World Cup team, said, “If you want to be a champion, you have to have a strong bowling department. I saw that, there are multiple spinners in the Indian team. I don't think spinners will be very successful in the Australian pitch environment. But I am very happy that Bumrah-Harshal Patel is back in the team.
